🇫🇷 19 May 2026
Didier Deschamps, born 15 October 1968 in Bayonne, is among the few footballers to win the FIFA World Cup both as a player and as a manager. He currently serves as the head coach of the France national team. Deschamps grew up in the French Basque region and began his football education at FC Nantes, where he quickly established himself as a defensive midfielder. He spent the bulk of his playing career with Olympique de Marseille and later with Juventus in Turin, contributing to both clubs' successes. Internationally, Deschamps earned 103 caps for France, winning the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 as a player. After retiring, he took charge of AS Monaco, guiding the club to the UEFA Champions League final. He returned to France as manager of Olympique de Marseille, where he secured the Ligue 1 championship. Since 2012, Deschamps has been the France national team manager, culminating in the 2018 World Cup triumph. Looking ahead, Deschamps remains at the helm of the French side as they prepare for upcoming international tournaments.
