Inter Milan Extend Cristian Chivu to 2028 with 50% Pay Rise

🇮🇹 20 June 2026

Inter Milan have confirmed that head coach Cristian Chivu has signed a new contract running to 2028, accompanied by a 50% salary increase from €2 million to €3 million net per season, after guiding the Nerazzurri to a domestic double in his debut senior campaign.

Fabrizio Romano reported the agreement, and Italian outlets noted that the extension adds one additional year to Chivu’s existing terms.

La dello Sport said the renewal serves both as a reward for immediate results and as a clear signal of continuity to the dressing room.

Chivu delivered Inter’s 21st Scudetto, secured with a win over Parma on 3 May, three rounds before the season’s end, and added the Coppa Italia trophy by beating Lazio.

He was promoted from the Primavera bench in June 2025 after Simone Inzaghi departed for Al‑Hilal.

The season also featured a blemish: Inter were eliminated from the Champions League by Bodø/Glimt.

Restoring Inter’s European standing is framed as the primary objective of his extended tenure, and Chivu has already shown authority in squad matters and player‑valuation decisions ahead of the summer window.

Inter will open the 2026‑27 Serie A campaign at home against Monza.
