Miron Muslic and Schalke 04 target Belgian striker Jelani Dumas

Belgian 21‑year‑old striker Jelani Dumas Trevisan, on the books of SL Benfica, is being courted by German side Schalke 04 as the club prepares for its return to the Bundesliga, with the Gelsenkirchen outfit already contacting his representatives and other clubs from France and Italy showing interest.

Dumas Trevisan developed in the youth system of Standard, where he spent his early teenage years. He also spent a season in the academy of KAA Gent before moving abroad.

He then made a notable transfer to Portuguese giants Benfica, but has not yet broken into the senior squad. The lack of first‑team opportunities has prompted the striker to consider a move away from Lisbon.

At present he is a regular for Benfica’s B team, the club’s reserve side. He has featured in 27 matches, contributing seven goals and one assist.

Schalke 04, fresh from promotion to the Bundesliga, is being guided by head coach Miron Muslic, who previously managed Cercle Brugge. Muslic’s project includes scouting talent across Europe, and the German club has already reached out to Dumas Trevisan’s representatives.

Schalke currently fields no Belgian players in its first‑team roster. Former Belgian international Marc Wilmots, who won the German Cup in 2001/02 and the UEFA Cup in 1996/97 with the club, remains a celebrated figure in Gelsenkirchen.

Besides Schalke, clubs from France and Italy have also expressed interest in the striker, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri. No specific club names were disclosed.

At 21, Dumas Trevisan faces a pivotal career decision, seeking regular top‑level football to continue his development. A move to Schalke could provide the platform he desires.
