Genk goalkeeper targeted by Kompany amid transfer speculation

🇧🇪

Genk goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans has confirmed interest from Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht. Brughmans stated the two have not spoken directly despite the reported approach.

Brughmans, who has made eleven first-team appearances for Genk this season, addressed the speculation in a public statement. The 23-year-old keeper remains under contract at Genk but the link to Anderlecht has intensified in recent days.

Anderlecht, under Vincent Kompany’s leadership, have been active in the transfer market this summer. Brughmans’ name emerged as a potential target following Genk’s defensive reshuffle.

The goalkeeper’s father, Kiaba Brughmans, also commented on the situation. He confirmed the family is aware of the interest but stressed no formal contact has taken place between clubs or representatives.

Brughmans has been a regular starter for Genk’s first team in the Belgian Pro League this season. His eleven appearances include clean sheets in four matches, according to club records.

Anderlecht’s pursuit comes as Kompany looks to rebuild the squad following last season’s fifth-place finish. The Brussels-based club has already signed two defenders this month.
