Oliver Glasner Milan target as Rossoneri rebuild continues

🇮🇹 8 June 2026

Oliver Glasner has identified AC Milan as his preferred destination and expects a formal approach from the club in the coming days. The ex-Crystal Palace manager’s agent, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, met Milan sporting director Gerry Cardinale last week to discuss the potential move.

AC Milan are restructuring their technical staff following the dismissal of their coach and key directors at the end of the 2025-26 season. The club is also set to appoint a new technical director, with Ralf Rangnick among their leading candidates.

Glasner and Rangnick both anticipate a call from Milan within days as the Rossoneri accelerate their recruitment plans. The German coach has emphasized his desire to build his project with trusted collaborators, including Southampton director Johannes Spors and Manchester United scout Christopher Vivell.

If both Glasner and Rangnick join Milan, David Alaba’s chances of transferring to San Siro as a free agent would rise significantly. The Austria international has already been presented to Milan, Inter and Juventus, but maintains strong ties with Rangnick.

Milan are aware of Alaba’s physical concerns during the 2025-26 campaign but believe his experience would benefit the squad next season. The Rossoneri are prioritizing leadership and stability in their rebuilding phase.

The club’s decision hinges on finalizing Glasner’s appointment and Rangnick’s potential arrival as technical director. Milan’s next moves will shape their competitive outlook for the upcoming season.
