Real Madrid enter the race for Yan Diomande

Real Madrid have entered the race for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, Pérez’s re-election as president. Liverpool have been tracking Diomande since the start of the year, viewing him as a key piece in Andoni Iraola’s attacking rebuild.

El Debate claims Real Madrid are preparing an ambitious recruitment drive after Pérez’s latest election victory. The Spanish outlet states: “The president of Real Madrid wants to make a major signing after winning the elections. He’s always done so after winning an election.” It adds that Pérez wants a high-profile signing to appeal to the Madrid faithful, specifically naming a striker.

Diomande has been a consistent target for Liverpool throughout the transfer window. The report highlights his pace, directness, creativity and production from wide areas as qualities that have made him one of Europe’s most coveted young forwards. However, El Debate suggests Madrid now view him as a viable alternative to Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise.

RB Leipzig’s strong start to the season has strengthened their negotiating position. The club qualified for the Champions League and are under little pressure to sell, allowing them to maintain a valuation believed to exceed €100 million. Diomande’s performances at the 2026 World Cup have further raised his stock, with every display drawing interest from Europe’s elite.

El Debate also claims Diomande has a personal preference for Real Madrid. The publication writes: “Diomandé made his debut for the southern Madrid team in that hard-fought 3-2 victory for Real Madrid at Butarque. The young African has developed in La Liga and is a self-confessed Real Madrid fan.” It concludes: “The club knows it. It’s a done deal. The youngster is shining at the World Cup and wants to come to Real Madrid.”
