Al Hilal’s £60m sprint for West Ham Dutch winger Summerville
Al Hilal are closing a £60 million deal for West Ham Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville to plug the gap left by the Hammers’ relegation‑induced exodus and to sharpen their attack ahead of the new season. The 24‑year‑old’s departure route opened after West Ham’s drop to the Championship, prompting the Saudi giants to act swiftly.
Al Hilal have reached an agreement with West Ham United that includes an initial £55 million fee and £5 million in add‑ons. A long‑term contract for the 24‑year‑old has already been prepared. The transfer will be finalised once he passes a medical and the remaining paperwork is approved.
The Saudi club moved quickly to secure Summerville, beating several European suitors to his signature. Interest came from clubs such as AS Roma, which submitted an offer of around €46 million (£39.2 million) earlier this month, as well as from Manchester United and Aston Villa.
The combined £60 million price tag underscores the high valuation placed on Summerville’s abilities. Both clubs agreed on the £55 million base fee plus the £5 million add‑on structure.
Summerville, a former Leeds United player, enjoyed another solid campaign despite West Ham’s difficult season. He made 34 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing five assists, and has featured 56 times since joining the Hammers in 2024.
His form earned him a place in the Netherlands squad for the recent FIFA World Cup. He played in four matches, netting two goals and delivering two assists, though he missed a penalty in the shoot‑out defeat to Morocco.
Summerville is the latest departure following Mateus Fernandes’ stunning £85 million move to Tottenham Hotspur. In contrast, West Ham secured a positive note by having captain Jarrod Bowen sign a new contract.
With the medical appointment scheduled, Al Hilal expect the transfer to be announced once the final approvals are granted. The swift completion will reinforce their attacking options for the upcoming campaign.
