Al Ittihad’s bid pressures Eintracht Frankfurt Onyedika chase

Al Ittihad have lodged an official bid with Club Brugge for Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika. The bid follows an opening approach made by Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

The Saudi Arabian side aims to secure the player before the German club finalises its deal, adding pressure to Frankfurt’s negotiations. Onyedika has twelve months remaining on his contract and is valued at roughly €10 million by the German club.

Frankfurt’s interest reflects a desire to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2026/27 season. The Hessen club generated a surplus after the high‑profile exits of Nathaniel Brown to Bayern Munich for €50 million, Aurèle Amenda to Coventry City for €18 million and Rasmus Kristensen to Midtjylland for €6 million.

Those funds have already been reinvested in new signings, including the €13 million acquisition of German youth international Noël Aséko from Bayern Munich. Frankfurt also added Malik Pimpong from Midtjylland for €3.5 million and secured the return of Noel Futkeu from Greuther Fürth for €1.3 million, although Futkeu is expected to depart.

The Hessen club prepares for the new campaign under returning head coach Adi Hütter, whose appointment signals continuity as the squad is reshaped. Frankfurt remain focused on finalising their recruitment ahead of the new season.

Al Ittihad now await Club Brugge’s decision on the bid, while Frankfurt continue negotiations to complete the signing. The outcome will determine whether the Saudi side adds a promising midfielder or Frankfurt secures his services.
