Christian Pulisic Milan starts rehab at Milanello as teammates tour
Christian Pulisic Milan resumed training on Thursday at Milanello, marking his first AC Milan session since the United States' World Cup campaign left the American winger with a leg injury and signalling the start of his rehabilitation in Italy ahead of the new Serie A season.
He remains in Italy while his Milan teammates travel abroad, as the club carefully manages his recovery ahead of the Serie A campaign. The decision isolates him from the preseason tour, allowing focused medical oversight.
The club’s cautious approach aims to ensure the winger returns fully fit for competitive action, with Milan’s medical staff emphasizing gradual progression over speed.
His official return to Milanello follows an extended post‑2026 World Cup break, signalling the beginning of a crucial phase before the upcoming Serie A season.
He arrived at Milanello on Thursday morning, a day later than initially planned after the club granted extra logistical time. Medical examinations were completed before he began individual work designed to rebuild fitness after the World Cup injury.
Unlike the rest of the Rossoneri, Pulisic is not joining the preseason tour of Australia, staying at the training centre to focus solely on rehabilitation. Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez also returned to Milanello as he continues recovering from an ankle injury sustained with Mexico.
The winger fractured his leg in the United States' Round of 16 defeat to Belgium when a shot collided with Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans. He later explained, “I just totally twisted my ankle and my knee in one play.”
Subsequent scans showed a bone bruise and a microfracture at the tibia‑fibula junction, with doctors estimating weeks rather than months of recovery. Milan’s plan starts with rest, then gradual rehab and individual sessions, and there is growing confidence he could be available for the opening Serie A fixture against Torino on August 23, although head coach Ruben Amorim will not rush his return if further caution is needed.
