UEFA payout to Infantino’s alleged mistress fuels calls for FIFA boss to resign

The European headquarters in Nyon became the latest flashpoint in Gianni Infantino’s troubled tenure as UEFA confirmed it paid a six-figure sum to his alleged mistress while he served as the organisation’s general secretary.

Amid mounting pressure, FIFA president Gianni Infantino faces renewed calls to step down after UEFA, the European governing body, paid a six‑figure sum to his alleged mistress while he served as the organisation’s general secretary, a claim first detailed by The Telegraph on 7 August 2026 at 22:36 BST.

The Telegraph said the woman received a six‑figure payment and that she had been promoted by Infantino with a 30 per cent salary increase during their relationship.

According to the report, UEFA’s then president Michel Platini was aware of the affair and raised concerns with Infantino.

UEFA later decided the employee would leave her role with a substantial departure sum, also covering fees for a £45,000‑per‑year MBA course at a local business school.
