MLS has opened a tampering investigation into Inter Miami’s high‑profile signing of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, putting the club’s new free‑agent acquisition under league scrutiny and raising questions about the legality of the deal. Inter Miami CF announced on Wednesday that it had signed Casemiro as a free agent. The club detailed that his contract runs through 2027 with an extension option that could keep him at the club until June 2029.

Shortly thereafter, Major League Soccer disclosed that it was reviewing a tampering allegation, citing LA Galaxy’s claim to the player’s discovery rights as the basis for the investigation. Internationally, the Brazilian has earned 91 caps for Brazil, started all five games at the 2026 World Cup, and recorded a goal and an assist in the tournament. His experience adds a veteran presence to Inter Miami’s midfield.
