Verstärkung für Reus: Ex-Barça-Urgestein heads to MLS
Sergi Roberto, the Ex‑Barça‑Urgestein, has signed for MLS record‑champions Los Angeles Galaxy, providing a Verstärkung for Marco Reus’s side. The 34‑year‑old midfielder inked a deal running to 2028 with an option for an additional year, confirming his first move to another continent.
Roberto left FC Barcelona after an 18‑year spell, during which he made 373 appearances, scored 19 goals and supplied 43 assists. He is remembered for a legendary late‑goal in March 2017 that sent 96,000 Camp Nou fans into ecstasy.
He then spent two seasons with Como in Serie A, adding 37 league appearances, one goal and one assist to his record. His time in Italy concluded with the same determination that marked his Barcelona days.
The Galaxy announced the signing on Sunday, noting the contract runs until 2028 with a further year optional. The move follows Roberto’s departure from Como, where he had been a regular starter.
In Los Angeles he will join former Barca teammate Ruiqi Puig (26) and veteran German striker Marco Reus (37), who has been in the city for roughly two years. The club sits 12th in the Western Conference after 19 of 35 games, just two points shy of the first wild‑card playoff spot.
